Middle School Administration

I began my career in education as a middle school teacher at Sunrise Middle School in Kearney back in the late 90's.  I took a break from the classroom for a few years to coach women's basketball at UNK.  I returned to the classroom as a math teacher in Lincoln teaching at Culler Middle School for five years.  I broke into administration in August of 2005 as the 7-12 principal at Shelby Public Schools.  During my time in Shelby, I helped navigate a merger with Rising City resulting in the creation of the Shelby Rising-City Middle School.  Our middle school received an 'Excellent' AQuESTT rating and was recognized as demonstrating the most improvement on the NeSA test of any middle school in the state (2015).

I am currently the middle school principal at Boone Central where I have been the past five years.  Boone Central Middle School also received an "Excellent" rating in 2022 moving up two notches from the rating it received in 2019.  I am a former NAMLE board member.  Currently, I serve on our local TeamMates board and I'm an active member of my community.  My family is the priority in my life.  I just sent my oldest son, Luke, off to UNL.  Katelyn is a sophomore who thinks she can do everything, and Mia is a 6th grader who just tries to keep up.  My wife and I are pretty lucky to have such great kids.  One thing many people do not know about me is that I have my school bus endorsement which allows me to sub for our bus drivers as needed.  I also teach the Level I & II classes for the Nebraska Safety Center (through UNK) helping area school districts keep up with the growing need to have qualified drivers for their activities and routes.

I'm proud of the work our middle school is doing to help students live out the "Cardinal Way" by building character, creating opportunities, and striving for success!
